It wouldn’t be a road trip without some detours…
Amy Curry is not looking forward to her summer. Her mother decided to move across the country and now it’s Amy’s responsibility to get their car from California to Connecticut. The only problem is, since her father died in a car accident, she isn’t ready to get behind the wheel, Enter Roger. An old family friend, he also has to make the cross-country trip – and has plenty of baggage of his own. The road home may be unfamiliar – especially with their friendship venturing into uncharted territory – but together, Amy and Roger will figure out how to make their way.
I love this book! I love the characters in this story! I love the way of writing! I love the playlist!
Yes! This book has several playlists (which were used by Amy and Roger). So basically, this story is about the roadtrip of Amy and Roger. Although they met when they were kids, they were complete strangers when they met again. Amy was asked to bring their car in Connecticut (where they will be moving) and Roger will be the one driving since he will be visiting his father and since Amy can’t drive(or won’t). She blames herself for the accident that happened which caused her father’s death. Amy then was living alone in California since her mother found a job in Connecticut and since his brother is in a drug facility.
Amy’s mom gave her all the instructions and planned everything about the trip – the hotel reservations, the trip route, ETA. But then, they decided to have a detour!
This detour made way for them to know each other more and to develop a relationship that both of them never expected. The places they visited were the places that matters to them and places that can give answers to their questions.
Amy was able to make it to Connecticut. She drove Roger to Philadelphia (yes! Amy was driving again!!) where he will visit his father. The story ended as Amy drove to their house in Connecticut to meet her furious mom (yeah, there was a delay on the arrival).
…that’s it???? what happened to Amy and Roger after???? — well that’s my question. I would love it if I know what happened to them after they part ways.
Morgan Matson’s style of writing is phenomenal. She has a way to engross her reader. Everytime she writes a book, I would always crave for more!!
LESSON LEARNED: Face your fears and forgive yourself…
